First Nations
On June 21, 2021, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act received Royal Assent and immediately came into force. This legislation advances the implementation of the Declaration as a key step in renewing the Government of Canada’s relationship with Indigenous peoples.
The purpose of this Act is to affirm the Declaration as an international human rights instrument that can help interpret and apply Canadian law. It also provides a framework to advance implementation of the Declaration at the federal level.

Whistler Trail Standards
Created in 2003, Whistler Trail Standards (WTS) was created by the Regional Municipality of Whistler (RMOW). The WTS has become the standard for mountain bike trail construction and classification in BC.
“This document is not a ‘how-to’ on building or maintaining trails; rather it is the standard by which the trails will be managed within the Whistler Valley.” - p.3 Introduction WTS
“The evolution of mountain bike trails, recreational equipment, and environmental issues require that this document be amendable,” Despite these Author’s Notes on p.1, the document has not changed since it’s creation in 2003.
